Parent Education

"You need to get the right owner's manual for parenting gifted children. You've got a different model of child from most parents." ~ Barbara Klein, Raising Gifted Kids

We value our community of families at Bellevue Discovery who share the joys and challenges of raising highly capable children.  We want our children to thrive as loving, creative and productive people, who will grow as individuals and share their gifts with the world.

Families with gifted children have many questions about how to help their children thrive:

  • Why does my child seem different from the other children his/her age?
  • Will my child be challenged in school?
  • Why does my child feel things so strongly?
  • How can I help my child live up to their full potential?
  • What is gifted education?
  • Are gifted programs better than regular classrooms?

Bellevue Discovery offers Educational Consulting to our preschool families.

We offer seminars that are open to the public, designed for parents and teachers of highly capable children ages 2 to 8. We are a non-profit 501(c)3 organization and ask for small donations to support this community service.

Does your child tend to follow the crowd or march to a different drummer?  Does your child seem happier in a group of playmates or with one friend (or on their own)?  Does your child need to learn things step-by-step, or do you find yourself saying, “How did they learn that?”

Knowing how your child gathers energy, relates to the surrounding environment, and processes new learning is the first step in helping your child thrive on their educational journey.
